Adding a Rule has more advantages. Your products will work automatically together and, at the same time, you will save money on your energy bill. This is great!
In this tutorial we explain step by step how you can add a Rule. Success!

What is a Rule and why do I have to add one?

Adding a Rule provides you more comfort and will save money on your energy bill. It is up to you whether you add Rules or not. A Rule makes an automatically response on a change possible. There are many different options, and it is up to you to choose what you want and don’t want.

A couple examples of Rules. You can click on them to see how you can add the Rules.
You can set some Rules even easier! Go to Energy, Security or Climate (Under Setup, next to Control). See some examples below.
You can set as many as Rules as you want.

Step 5: Click on ‘Add Rule’

To create a Rule you have to click on ‘Add Rule’, in the upper right corner.

Step 5: Click on 'Add Rule'

Step 6: Choose input

Set the input.
When you choose this input, you will set a Rule that responses on changing the Lifestyle. For instance: you change from Home to the Lifestyle Away and the lamp outside will go on.
With this input you set a Rule that responses to a product. For instance: you are not at home, but the MoLiTe Sensor detects movement. The MoLiTe Sensor will send an email with notifications.
This Rule will respond on changing the sunlight. For instance: the lights will dim automatically at sunset.
A response to a change of time. For instance: it is 07.00 o’clock, the curtains will go open automatically.

Step 6: Choose input.

Step 7: Set input

In this example we chose to use a product with a sensor (the MoLiTe Sensor). Choose which product you want to use.
There will be a reaction if the MoLiTe Sensor detects movement.
There will be a reaction if the MoLiTe Sensor detects changing of the lights.
There will be a reaction if the MoLiTe Sensor detects changing of the temperature.

Step 7: Set input.

Step 8: Add output

Choose what the response has to be.
A product responses. For instance: movement is detected, the lamp will go on.
Activating another Lifestyle. For instance: when you are coming home (movement is detected), the Lifestyle Home will be activated automatically.
A Scene is activated. For instance: you open the door of the living room and the Scene ‘living room’ will be activated. All the lights in the living room will go on.
An email will be send as a response. For instance: you are not at home, but movement has been detected. You will receive an email.

Step 8: Add output.

Step 9: Choose output

In this example we choose for a product to respond. Choose the product you want to use in this Rule.
Do you want the switch (and so the lamp in our case) on or off?
Do action after:
Choose if you want the reaction directly or with time between.

Ready? Click on ‘Save output’.

Step 9: Choose output.

Step 10: Finish

In which Lifestyles do you want this Rule to be active? It can be that you want this Rule to be active in the Lifestyle Home, but not in the Lifestyle Away. Choose that here.
Ready? Click on ‘Save’.

Step 10: Finish.

Step 11: Successful!

The Rule is added to your account. Here you can see what actually will happen now.
In our case this will happen: the (1) MoLiTe Sensor (2) detects movement, the (3) light in the living room will switch (4) on (5) directly.
1 = MoLiTe Sensor = input ‘product’
2 = detects movement = input ‘movement’
3 = Living light = output ‘product’
4 = go on = output ‘switch’
5 = directly = output ‘do action after’

Step 11: Successful!

Step 12: Synchronize your Gateway

It it necessary to synchronize your Gateway. When your Gateway is not synchronized, the new updates will not work. The Gateway do not ‘know’ the new updates so it can not be used. Synchronizing does not take long. After this you can go to the next step.

Step 12: Synchronize your Gateway.

Step 13: Synchronized successfully!

If you see the green check-mark (next to Logout), then your Gateway is successfully synchronized. From now on your new updates will work.

Step 13: Synchronized successfully!

The Rule is added, what now?

Your Rule has been added to your account. From now on this Rule will work automatically. If you have synchronized the Gateway, your settings will respond how you want it.
